The Port of Skagit recently created and filled a new position to oversee construction and operation of the Port’s fiber optic infrastructure project.

Andrew Entrikin, the Port’s former Community Outreach Administrator, will now take on the new role of Broadband Manager.

Entrikin has been with the Port since 2015, handling all the Port’s public relations, internal communications and operation of the Port’s website and social media.

Transitioning into this new role with the Port, Entrikin will focus on construction of new fiber optic infrastructure, which will span from Anacortes to Concrete when complete.    This project is a collaboration between the Port and Skagit PUD, and is set to provide a countywide, carrier grade, open access fiber network backbone that will deliver affordable high-speed internet access to the citizens of Skagit County for the purposes of economic development, education, public health and safety, and transportation.

Once construction of the infrastructure is complete, Entrikin will continue to work on developing public-private partnership opportunities with internet service providers, as well as broadband policy work.  Construction of the project will be completed in six phases and is set to be finished in early 2020.
