Burlington – Port of Skagit operating revenues for the first half of 2016 are up compared to the first half of 2015, according to a report presented to the port’s Board of Commissioners last month. The report, compiled by Port staff, showed operating income and non-operating revenue by department.

Skagit Regional Airport and Bayview Business Park revenues for the first half of 2016 were up 26 percent, due to increased land and T-hangar rentals. The Port has 73 major tenants at its airport and business park properties in Burlington.

The report also showed revenue at the La Conner Marina is up 11 percent over the same period in 2015, due primarily to stronger moorage and RV park revenues. The Port has nineteen business tenants at its marina property in La Conner.

“We are pleased to see operating revenues increase across all port enterprises,” said Port of Skagit Commission President Dr. Kevin E. Ware. “The financial health of your Port impacts the local economy and ultimately you, the taxpayer. More businesses are locating to the Port of Skagit and we are seeing additional tourist visits at the La Conner Marina. In fact, 3,000 overnight boat visits annually at the La Conner Marina boost tourist spending by approximately $550,000.”

According to the report, the Port’s total operating revenue increased $410,154 over the same period in 2015.
